Scare Away Halloween Candy ActivitiesHalloween is not celebrated by everyone, particularly those that want to maintain good dental health. The trick-or-treat aspect of Halloween makes people over-indulge in sweets and candies, and this can be detrimental to their oral and dental health. If you do not want any part of Halloween, you can easily avoid the candies by making it clear that you are not taking part in trick-or-treating.

Do not buy candy


If you are looking to avoid Halloween candy activities, then you should not buy candy as it would be pointless. Avoiding candy throughout the Halloween period will greatly benefit your oral health. The high sugar content in candy provides food to the bacteria inside your mouth that are linked to cavities. The bacteria feed on the sugar and secrete a weak acid that eats away at the enamel of your teeth. Therefore, avoiding candy during Halloween is a great idea.

If You Do Decide To Buy Candy


Sometimes it is hard to stay away from the fun holiday acitivities and our dentist know that. Therefore, we have precautionary measures you can use to avoid getting cavities from all of the holiday candy.

You want to make sure you brush and floss right after you eat this candy. This can help avoid the bactieria from the sugar from building up. Espeically if you are going right to bed.

Give a majority of the candy away. The best thing to monitor the amount of candy you consume is to give it away. Only keep a little bit and spread that little bit of candy out.
