Tips for a healthier smileA lot of information is available online telling you all sorts of steps to take for a healthier smile. You may find it challenging to filter through the noise and choose which advice is actually worth following. Our experts have picked out five simple tips to help you keep your smile healthy and attractive. Check us out for more details.

Brush your teeth regularly

This is probably the most common advice you have received from our practice. It is however very important to brush your teeth at least twice a day every day. Brushing removes plaque and food particles from your teeth keeping them clean and free from bacteria.

Regular flossing

Flossing your teeth is just as important as brushing. We recommend flossing at least once a day for, maximum benefits. Flossing allows you to get rid of plaque that forms between your teeth, areas your toothbrush might not be able to reach.

Fluoride

Fluoride is important in strengthening your enamel. Using a toothpaste containing fluoride ensures your enamel is strong making it resistant to corrosion and breakage. In addition, fluoride reverses tooth decay in its early stages, keeping your smile intact.

Reducing your sugar intake

Our specialists suggest you stay away from foods and drinks with high sugar content if you want to maintain a healthy smile. The bacteria in yopur mouth feed on sugar, producing acids that in turn corrode and weaken yiur enamel and lead to decay. Shifting to a sugar-free diet is definitely the best choice for a healthy smile.

Regular dental visits

You should visit your dentist at least twice every year. During these visits, our hygienist conducts routine dental cleanings and examines your teeth for any early signs of tooth decay. Call us to book an appointment for more professional tips for a healthier smile.
