How Many Teeth do I Need to be Missing to Get Dental Implants?

How Many Teeth do I Need to be Missing to Get Dental Implants? There are a variety of artificial tooth solutions, ranging from partials to dentures, to dental implants. The patient's individual situation will dictate which solution is the best one for their case. Each one has good points and bad points. One of the best solutions and most widely used are dental implants. Permanently fixed in the mouth, there is no chance of having them slip out of place or rub the interior of the cheek or soft gum tissue raw. Aside from restoring lost tooth and jaw functionality, they also stop decay and disease which may have caused the tooth loss in the first place.

Implant Uses

It is important for patients to understand that implants can be used for a variety of different dental appliances. They provide a solid foundation for these appliances which could be a partial denture, dentures, or crowns.

It does not matter if the patient is missing one tooth, several teeth, or all of their teeth, dental implants can restore those lost teeth with naturally looking, artificial ones. The implants can support dentures by having clips that the dentures use to clip onto the implant. They can also have crowns on the top which look and feel just like a natural tooth which can be tinted and shaped to look like the natural teeth in the patient's mouth.

The Benefits

One of the biggest benefits of dental implants is that there is no adhesive gel that needs to be applied multiple times a day to keep the teeth in place. They are also made of a harder material which means no dietary changes like denture wearers have to make. This is considered a bit plus. They also last a lot longer than dentures. Typically, dentures should be replaced every three to five years whereas crowns can last up to ten years.
