Yogurt is a Great Option to Eat Following Oral SurgeryOur teeth are a central feature on our faces. Therefore, having a great set of pearly whites goes a long way in helping our aesthetics. However, sometimes, due to one reason or the other, you might end up getting some form of oral surgery.

Some of the most common reasons people get oral surgeries are when there are problems involving their lips, teeth, gums, infections, trauma, or a host of other reasons. After surgery, comes an essential part: healing. Our nutrition plays a massive role in how well and fast we heal after our surgeries. One of the most critical foods people should take when recovering from oral surgery is yogurt.

Here is why:

Loaded With Protein

Protein is one of the main ingredients during the healing process. Since it is responsible for tissue regeneration, drinking yogurt could help you when recovering from oral surgery. Tropical yogurt contains about 12 grams of protein in 7 ounces of yogurt. Greek yogurt comes in at a higher percentage boasting nearly double the quantity at 22 grams in the same 7 ounces.

Better Immune System

After you have had oral surgery, the risk of getting an infection is always high. Although its standard to get some anti-biotics, you should also take some measures to get your immunity stronger than before so that you don't run into any issues later. Scientists have even found out that probiotics in yogurt help fight inflammation, which is also quite common after surgery. Additionally, yogurt is also high in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium.

Following oral surgery, you must be very careful to make sure that you do things right for a successful recovery, otherwise you may need to come back to see sooner than you had hoped. By regularly eating yogurt as you recover, you give your body the power packed fuel it needs to recover.
